Options for scholarships are all over the place and for all sorts of activities, interests, identifiers, and accomplishments; and religious affiliation or faith is no exception. The question isn’t whether or not faith-based scholarships exist, but rather where to find them and if your college will accept them.
The first place to check would be with your potential college(s). Faith-based colleges may offer, among other types of scholarships, faith-based scholarships. These could be scholarships having to do with ministry, denominational affiliation, testimony, or something similar. Basically, if the scholarship has something to do with Christianity or your faith, it can be considered a faith-based scholarship. You can find these by checking the college’s website or speaking to the financial aid department.
Another option is to find faith-based scholarships online (such as the Christian connector scholarships…). A quick google search for “Christian scholarships” should yield a list of potential results. You’ll likely have to fill out an application or write an essay to compete for the scholarship. Some of them might be raffles, where you simply put your contact info in and winners are selected at random. There is likely a lot of competition for these but it’s worth the effort if you can take some weight off your college tuition.
You can also check your community, especially if you attended a Christian high school. Talk to your guidance counselor and see if they know of any faith-based scholarships you may be able to receive from your school. They may also know about scholarships from Churches or local ministries that may be a good fit for you. Talk to the youth pastors at your church and see if they know of any. If you are affiliated with a specific denomination or have attended a church that is affiliated with a specific denomination for some time, you can check the website of the denomination and see if they have any scholarships or aid for students.
Basically, a faith-based scholarship can come from any number of sources and will likely be accepted at any faith-based or Christian university, you just have to put in some work to find them. Be sure to bring all potential scholarships to the financial aid department at your college to make sure that they will accept the scholarship.
