Are there specific religious requirements for attending a faith-based college?

While admission specifics depend entirely on the school that one is applying to and vary from college to college, there are some general statements that usually apply. Generally speaking, a faith-based college does not require students to be Christian or of the same faith/denomination as the college itself.

There may be some exceptions to this, so it's best to check with the admissions office of the faith-based colleges you are looking into. However, faith-based colleges are usually less strict than Christian colleges and Bible colleges, which may more often have religious requirements for their applicants. That said, faith-based colleges may still ask faith-related questions or questions about testimony in their application. This doesn't mean that you have to be Christian to be admitted, they just want to know where you're at and what your attitude towards faith may be.

It Is Important to note that whatever student requirements these colleges have as far as faith-related activities will likely still have to be followed by all students, regardless of religious affiliation. For example, if the faith-based college requires students to take a certain number of Bible courses to graduate, students will be expected to do so regardless of whether or not they are Christian.

While faith-based colleges typically are not as strict about Bible courses, chapels, and required devotionals as Christian colleges or Bible colleges, they may still have some of these types of requirements. So, even if you are not Christian, by choosing to attend a faith-based college you are agreeing to uphold its faith-related requirements. Such requirements could be a certain number of Bible courses, Chapel attendance, community/ministry service hours, or some similar activities.

Though it is not very likely that these will be required at a faith-based college, students should still check with admissions, student life, or the college's website to see what may be expected of them in this area.
